Microsoft Windows Media Format Runtime 9.0, 9.5 e 11, nonché Windows Media Services 9.1 e 2008, non analizzano correttamente gli header malformati nei file Advanced Systems Format (ASF), consentendo agli attaccanti remoti di eseguire codice arbitrario tramite un file (.asf, .wmv o .wma) appositamente creato. Tale vulnerabilità è nota come "Windows Media Header Parsing Invalid Free Vulnerability".
