L'editor XML in Microsoft InfoPath 2007 SP2 e 2010; SQL Server 2005 SP3 e SP4 e 2008 SP1, SP2 e R2; SQL Server Management Studio Express (SSMSE) 2005; e Visual Studio 2005 SP1, 2008 SP1 e 2010 non gestisce correttamente le entità esterne, consentendo agli attaccanti remoti di leggere file arbitrari tramite un file .disco (Web Service Discovery) manipolato ad hoc, noto come "Vulnerabilità nella risoluzione delle Entità Esterne XML" (XML External Entities Resolution Vulnerability).
