La funzionalità Protected Mode in Microsoft Internet Explorer 7 fino alla versione 10 su Windows Vista SP2, Windows Server 2008 SP2 e R2 SP1, Windows 7 SP1, Windows 8, Windows Server 2012 e Windows RT non implementa correttamente il meccanismo di protezione Integrity Access Level (noto anche come IL), consentendo ad attaccanti remoti di ottenere privilegi a integrità media sfruttando l'accesso a un processo a bassa integrità. Questa vulnerabilità è nota come "Process Integrity Level Assignment Vulnerability".
