Un heap-based buffer overflow nella funzione __nss_hostname_digits_dots di glibc 2.2 e in altre versioni della serie 2.x precedenti alla versione 2.18 consente ad attaccanti con dipendenza dal contesto di eseguire codice arbitrario tramite vettori correlati alle funzioni (1) gethostbyname o (2) gethostbyname2, noto anche come "GHOST".
