Nel kernel Linux fino alla versione 4.19.6, un utente locale potrebbe sfruttare un use-after-free nel driver ALSA fornendo un dispositivo audio USB malevolo (con zero interfacce) che viene gestito erroneamente nella funzione usb_audio_probe in sound/usb/card.c.
