La mancanza di un controllo che verifichi se la dimensione del frammento dei dati ricevuti corrente per un particolare pacchetto letto dalla memoria condivisa è inferiore alla dimensione effettiva del pacchetto può portare a una corruzione della memoria e potenzialmente a una fuoriuscita di informazioni.
