Se la quota `recursive-clients` viene raggiunta su un resolver BIND 9 configurato con entrambi i parametri `stale-answer-enable yes;` e `stale-answer-client-timeout 0;`, una sequenza di lookup correlate al serve-stale potrebbe causare un loop nel processo `named` e il suo terminazione imprevista a causa di uno stack overflow. Questo problema interessa le versioni BIND 9 da 9.16.33 a 9.16.41, da 9.18.7 a 9.18.15, da 9.16.33-S1 a 9.16.41-S1 e da 9.18.11-S1 a 9.18.15-S1.
