| Titolo | H3C NX15 Router NX15V100R017 Exposed Dangerous Function |
|---|
| Descrizione | H3C NX15 Router firmware NX15V100R017 exposes the raw ubus object file through the authenticated /api/esps interface. The web API translates externally supplied object, method, and param fields directly into ubus path, func, and args values without enforcing a strict application-level allowlist. As a result, an authenticated web administrator is not limited to product-specific esps.* RPC objects and can directly invoke the native ubus method file.exec.
The significance of this issue is that file.exec is already a privileged execution primitive by design. It accepts a command, parameter array, and environment table, and the ubus provider runs in a root-privileged backend context. Therefore exploitation does not require bypassing shell filters in a product-specific script; the web layer simply exposes a dangerous low-level execution interface across a trust boundary where it should never have been reachable. A remote authenticated administrator can use this method to run arbitrary commands as root with very little complexity. |
