Trong WordPress trước phiên bản 4.7.3, tồn tại lỗ hổng Cross-Site Scripting (XSS) đã xác thực thông qua siêu dữ liệu của tệp phương tiện. Lỗ hổng này được chứng minh bởi cả hai: (1) xử lý sai shortcode danh sách phát trong hàm wp_playlist_shortcode ở tập tin wp-includes/media.php và (2) xử lý sai thông tin meta trong hàm renderTracks ở tập tin wp-includes/js/mediaelement/wp-playlist.js.
