When submitting credentials, the application returns different responses depending on whether a provided username exists. This enables attackers to distinguish valid usernames from invalid ones simply by examining the responses to crafted login attempts. Consequently, an attacker can build a list of legitimate accounts, potentially facilitating subsequent targeted brute-force or credential stuffing attacks. |
