A vulnerability has been found in SDL2_image 2.0.2 and classified as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown part of the component ILBM Image Rendering. An exploitable code execution vulnerability exists in the ILBM image rendering functionality of SDL2_image-2.0.2. A specially crafted ILBM image can cause a stack overflow resulting in code execution. An attacker can display a specially crafted image to trigger this vulnerability.
The bug was discovered 03/01/2018. The weakness was disclosed 04/24/2018 (Website). The advisory is available at lists.debian.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-14440 since 09/13/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is required for a successful exploitation. Successful exploitation requires user interaction by the victim. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available.
