A vulnerability was found in filipmedia WP Image Uploader Plugin up to 1.0.1 on WordPress and classified as problematic. The WP Image Uploader plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to arbitrary file deletion due to insufficient file path validation in the gky_image_uploader_main_function() function in all versions up to, and including, 1.0.1. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to delete arbitrary files on the server, which can easily lead to remote code execution when the right file is deleted (such as wp-config.php).
The weakness was disclosed by Colin Xu. It is possible to read the advisory at wordfence.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2024-13720 since 01/24/2025. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation.
