Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4、XP SP2/SP3、Server 2003 SP2、Vista Gold/SP1/SP2 以及 Server 2008 Gold/SP2 内核中的 win32k.sys 未能正确验证对某个未指定系统调用的参数，本地用户可通过触发空指针解引用（NULL pointer dereference）的特制应用程序提升权限。此漏洞也被称为“Win32k NULL Pointer Dereferencing Vulnerability”。
