A vulnerability was found in Cacti 1.1.27 (Log Management Software). It has been declared as critical. This vulnerability affects an unknown function in the library lib/rrd.php of the component Settings. The manipulation as part of a Parameter leads to a os command injection vulnerability. lib/rrd.php in Cacti 1.1.27 allows remote authenticated administrators to execute arbitrary OS commands via the path_rrdtool parameter in an action=save request to settings.php.
The bug was discovered 11/02/2017. The weakness was released 11/07/2017 (GitHub Repository). The advisory is available at github.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-16641 since 11/07/2017. The attack can be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation requires a single authentication. Technical details are known, but there is no available exploit. This vulnerability is assigned to T1202 by the MITRE ATT&CK project.

By approaching the search of inurl:lib/rrd.php it is possible to find vulnerable targets with Google Hacking. It is assigned to the family Fedora Local Security Checks and running in the context l. The commercial vulnerability scanner Qualys is able to test this issue with plugin 277027 (Fedora Security Update for cacti (FEDORA-2017-9762a831b2)).
Upgrading eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published 3 weeks after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
