Nextcloud Server before 9.0.55 and 10.0.2 suffers from a bypass in the quota limitation. Due to not properly sanitizing values provided by the `OC-Total-Length` HTTP header an authenticated adversary may be able to exceed their configured user quota. Thus using more space than allowed by the administrator.

The bug was discovered 04/05/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/05/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at nextcloud.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-0887 since 11/30/2016. The attack may be initiated remotely. The successful exploitation needs a simple authentication. Technical details are known, but no exploit is available.

Upgrading to version 9.0.55 or 10.0.2 eliminates this vulnerability.
