CVE-2026-51901 in SuperAGIinfo

Summary

by MITRE • 10/02/2026

SuperAGI up to 0.0.14 is vulnerable to Incorrect Access Control. The agent execution controller endpoint /api/agentexecutions/schedule allows authenticated users from one organization to schedule existing agents belonging to a different organization without proper authorization checks. The endpoint accepts an agent_id parameter but does not verify that the agent belongs to the authenticated user's organization.

The vulnerability identified in SuperAGI versions up to 0.0.14 represents a critical failure in server-side access control mechanisms, specifically categorized under CWE-285: Improper Authorization. This flaw resides within the application logic governing agent execution scheduling via the /api/agentexecutions/schedule endpoint. The core technical deficiency is the absence of an ownership verification step during request processing. When an authenticated user submits a request to schedule an AI agent for execution, the backend system accepts the provided agent_id parameter and proceeds with the operation without validating whether that specific agent ID corresponds to an entity owned by or accessible within the requesting user's organization context. This lack of object-level permission checking allows for horizontal privilege escalation, where users can interact with resources outside their designated security boundary despite being authenticated.

From a technical perspective, this vulnerability exploits the assumption that authentication implies authorization for all associated actions. In multi-tenant architectures like SuperAGI, it is imperative to enforce strict isolation between organizations by validating tenant IDs against resource ownership metadata before executing state-changing operations. The endpoint fails to perform this cross-reference check, effectively treating any valid agent_id as accessible if the user possesses a valid session token. This oversight enables an attacker with access to one organization's account to manipulate agents belonging to another organization, potentially leading to unauthorized execution of AI models, data exfiltration through model outputs, or resource exhaustion within the victim organization's quota limits.

The operational impact of this vulnerability is significant in environments where SuperAGI serves multiple distinct organizations or teams. An adversary can leverage this flaw to schedule existing agents from a target organization without needing credentials for that specific tenant. This could result in the unintended execution of sensitive workflows, exposure of proprietary data processed by those agents, and potential manipulation of downstream systems if the scheduled agents have external integrations. Furthermore, because the action is performed under the context of an authenticated user, it may bypass logging mechanisms designed to detect unauthorized access attempts from unauthenticated sources, making forensic analysis more challenging.

This vulnerability aligns with MITRE ATT&CK technique T1078: Valid Accounts, as it relies on legitimate credentials to perform actions outside their intended scope. It also relates to CWE-639: Authorization Bypass Through User-Controlled Key, where the agent_id serves as a user-controlled key that is not properly validated against access control policies. To mitigate this issue, developers must implement strict object-level authorization checks at the API layer. This involves retrieving the organization ID associated with the authenticated session and verifying that the requested agent_id belongs to that same organization before allowing the schedule operation to proceed. Additionally, implementing comprehensive audit logging for all cross-organization resource access attempts can aid in detecting exploitation patterns and enhancing future security monitoring capabilities.
