Jakarta Tomcat prima della versione 3.3.1a, quando utilizzato con JDK 1.3.1 o versioni precedenti, consente agli attaccanti remoti di elencare directory anche in presenza di un file index.html o di altri file, oppure di ottenere il codice sorgente non elaborato per un file JSP tramite un URL contenente un carattere null.
