| Beschreibung | A global-buffer-overflow vulnerability exists in Assimp's Half-Life 1 MDL loader within the `HL1MDLLoader::read_sequence_infos()` function at `HL1MDLLoader.cpp:1120`. The flaw is caused by insufficient input length validation when parsing bone names from a malformed MDL file. The parser reads an extremely long bone name into a fixed-size `aiString` buffer without boundary checks, fully populating the internal buffer. During the `aiString` copy operation, a 1023-byte `memcpy` triggers an out-of-bounds read accessing memory in the global data section, leading to an immediate program crash. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability via a crafted MDL file to cause a denial-of-service (DoS) condition. |
