| Beschreibung | SxDevOps sets DEBUG = True as the default value when the DEBUG environment variable is not configured. If the deployment omits this configuration (common for Docker-based deployments that may not set all environment variables), the application runs in debug mode in production.
Vulnerable code in backend/sxdevops/settings.py line 347:
DEBUG = _bool_value(os.getenv("DEBUG"), True) # Defaults to True
In Django, DEBUG = True causes:
1. Detailed error pages on 500 errors exposing full stack traces, local variables, SQL queries, and all settings values including SECRET_KEY and database credentials
2. Static file serving through Django bypassing secure CDN configurations
3. Enhanced logging that may include sensitive data
Impact: Triggering any 500 error exposes the Django SECRET_KEY (enabling session forgery attacks as a separate vulnerability), database credentials, application source code, and internal server architecture. No authentication required. |
