| Beschreibung | certvalidator (wbond) up to 0.11.1 is vulnerable to a denial-of-service via exponential certificate path-building (CWE-400). When processing a certificate chain containing multiple duplicate self-signed intermediate certificates with the same subject, the path-builder explores a factorial number of combinations. At N=9 duplicate intermediates CPU time exceeds 12 seconds. An attacker controlling a certificate chain presented to any application using certvalidator for TLS or X.509 validation can trigger sustained CPU exhaustion.
