| Título | Nuget Smidge 4.5.1 Arbitrary file creation (CWE-22) |
|---|
| Descripción | Smidge is a file management module that can be integrated with web applications in Microsoft .NET. The module has more than 10M downloads on Nuget (https://www.nuget.org/packages/Smidge) and is integrated in some CMS, for example in Umbraco versions 10,11, 12 and 13. A vulnerability has been identified that can be used for arbitrary file creation. By exploiting this vulnerability, it might be possible to:
- Enumerate usernames on the web server.
- Deplete available hard disk space and thus affect availability.
This vulnerability has now been patched. Excerpt from patch notes at "https://github.com/Shazwazza/Smidge/releases/tag/v4.6.0":
The risk with versions previous to 4.6.0 is reduced by:
* Correct permissions assigned to the user account that your web application is running under to avoid potential file writes outside the boundaries of the web application's own file system.
* Don't use TimestampCacheBuster in production environments.
* Ensure Developer Exception Page or detailed exceptions are not enabled in production environments.
4.6.0 addresses the vulnerabilities disclosed here:
