Enviar #754474: D-Link DWR-M960 V1.0.07 Stack-based Buffer Overflowinformación

TítuloD-Link DWR-M960 V1.0.07 Stack-based Buffer Overflow
DescripciónDuring a security review of the D-Link DWR-M960 (Hardware B1, Firmware V1.01.07), a buffer overflow vulnerability was discovered in the Filter configuration endpoint /boafrm/formFilter. The vulnerability is located within the sub_424AFC function. This function retrieves the submit-url parameter from the incoming HTTP request. Towards the end of the function's execution, specifically when processing a "save and apply" action (indicated by the save_apply parameter and internal state), the function uses strcpy to copy the content of submit-url into a global variable/buffer named wizard_htm. Due to the lack of proper bounds checking on the input length before the copy operation, a malicious actor can supply an oversized submit-url parameter to overwrite the destination buffer and adjacent memory. This allows for application crashes (DoS) and potentially arbitrary code execution.
