L'automatisation Object Linking and Embedding (OLE), telle qu'utilisée dans Microsoft Windows 2000 SP4, XP SP2, Server 2003 SP1 et SP2, Office 2004 pour Mac et Visual Basic 6.0, permet aux attaquants distants d'exécuter du code arbitraire via la méthode substringData sur un objet TextNode, ce qui provoque un dépassement de capacité entier (integer overflow) entraînant un débordement de tampon (buffer overflow).
