| Titre | Open5GS v2.7.6 Denial of Service |
|---|
| Description | Open5GS v2.7.6 is affected by a denial-of-service condition in the Diameter/S6a handling path of open5gs-hssd when processing a malformed Diameter Update-Location-Request (ULR) message. After a Diameter peer establishes an SCTP connection and completes a standard Capabilities-Exchange-Request (CER) registration step, a malformed ULR message with an invalid or missing Session-Id AVP can trigger an assertion failure inside the freeDiameter session management logic. The crash occurs in fd_msg_sess_get(), where the assertion `avp->avp_public.avp_value' fails. As a result, the open5gs-hssd process terminates with SIGABRT instead of rejecting the malformed Diameter message gracefully. An attacker with network access to the Diameter listener can send a crafted ULR message and crash the HSS service, causing a denial of service. |
