| Title | PcapPlusPlus v25.05 Heap-based Buffer Overflow |
|---|
| Description | A heap-based buffer over-read vulnerability exists in PcapPlusPlus's Telnet protocol parsing module within the pcpp::TelnetLayer::getSubCommand function at TelnetLayer.cpp:210. The flaw is caused by insufficient boundary validation when handling truncated Telnet subnegotiation packet buffers. When processing a maliciously crafted truncated Telnet packet with a buffer length smaller than 3 bytes, the function fails to properly restrict out-of-bounds memory access. It directly reads data at the pos[2] offset without validating the actual buffer size, triggering a 1-byte out-of-bounds heap read and resulting in program crash during packet parsing. Remote attackers can exploit this vulnerability by supplying a specially malformed Telnet network packet to trigger invalid heap memory access, leading to a denial-of-service (DoS) condition and potential sensitive memory information disclosure. |
