Submit #845584: SecureAge Technology CatchPulse <10.9.3 Heap-based Buffer Overflowinfo

TitleSecureAge Technology CatchPulse <10.9.3 Heap-based Buffer Overflow
DescriptionA heap-based buffer overflow vulnerability exists in the saappctl.sys driver of CatchPulse Antivirus. The issue occurs due to a lack of rigorous bounds checking during file or pipe read operations via IOCTL 0xC. A local, low-privileged attacker can exploit this by supplying an undersized IRP System Buffer, causing the driver to write data past the allocated bounds into the Non-Paged Pool. This allows the attacker to cause a system crash or achieve arbitrary kernel code execution to escalate privileges to NT AUTHORITY\SYSTEM. I have developed a PoC privilege escalation exploit to demonstrate impact. The video demo is linked and the private Github can be accessed upon request. Additionally I have attached a disclosure report with further details on the bug. The bug has already been reported to the vendor.
