| Title | SourceCodester College Notes Gallery Management System using PHP with Source Code 1.0 Missing Authorization |
|---|
| Description | During the security review of "College Notes Gallery Management System V1.0", I found that the signup.php registration flow performs no server-side validation of the role field.
Although the signup form only exposes Teacher and Student as visible choices, the backend reads $_POST['role'] directly and inserts it into the database. This allows an attacker to modify the request body and register an account with role=admin.
After registration, the attacker can log in with the newly created account and access the administrator dashboard. This is a direct authorization bypass and privilege escalation issue. |
