| Title | samanhappy mcphub 1.0.32 RCE |
|---|
| Description | A vulnerability has been found in MCPHub (@samanhappy/mcphub), an open-source MCP (Model Context Protocol) server aggregation gateway, in its current development version. The template import endpoint POST /api/templates/import lacks proper administrative privilege validation: only authentication is required, but no check ensures the user is an administrator. Unlike other server management endpoints (createServer, updateServer) which enforce the isPrivilegedServerConfig check to prevent non-admin users from creating stdio-type servers with command/args, the importTemplate service function persists the server configuration without this validation. An authenticated non-admin attacker can import a malicious template containing a stdio-type server with arbitrary command/args, then call the toggle endpoint POST /api/servers/:name/toggle to trigger the MCP SDK's StdioClientTransport, which spawns the attacker-controlled command via child_process.spawn(). In deployments with OAuth social login enabled (GitHub/Google/OIDC), attackers can self-register as non-admin users, creating a complete unauthenticated-to-RCE chain. Successful exploitation leads to arbitrary command execution with the privileges of the MCPHub host process, enabling reading of sensitive files or planting backdoors.
