| Title | CodeAstro QR Code Attendance Management System V1.0 Improper Privilege Management |
|---|
| Description | The save() action in app/Controllers/UserController.php implements a role guard that only validates the role_id value submitted in the request, but never checks the current role of the user account being modified. An authenticated user with the low-privileged "Administrator" role can therefore send an update request targeting the existing Super Administrator account (id=1) with role_id=2 and a new password. The server performs an unrestricted row-level UPDATE (UPDATE users SET role_id=?,...,password=? WHERE id=?) and resets the Super Administrator's credentials, effectively handing over control of the highest-privilege account to the attacker. The original Super Administrator permanently loses access, and subsequent audit-log entries appear under the compromised identity. |
