Submit #976278: vgmstream r2117 Buffer Overflowinfo

Titlevgmstream r2117 Buffer Overflow
Descriptionvgmstream contains a CWE-787 vulnerability in sbuf_silence_part() in src/base/sbuf.c. The helper performs pointer arithmetic and computes the memset() length from attacker-influenced start and count values using signed integers and without validating that the resulting range stays within the heap-backed sample buffer. Attacker-controlled TXTP play configuration can reach this path and make the renderer write beyond the destination buffer. A crafted TXTP file can therefore cause a heap buffer overflow during rendering, terminating the process and potentially enabling code execution in applications embedding vgmstream. I re-verified this issue against the latest upstream HEAD commit 79bc65b52cddc61b859679c1c47dc57092872ae1 on 2026-08-21 and confirmed that the vulnerable logic is still present there.
