CVE-2026-101818 in Product Hubinfo

Summary

by MITRE • 10/21/2026

Vulnerability in the Oracle Product Hub product of Oracle E-Business Suite (component: Item Catalog). Supported versions that are affected are 12.2.3-12.2.15. Difficult to exploit vulnerability allows low privileged attacker with network access via HTTP to compromise Oracle Product Hub. While the vulnerability is in Oracle Product Hub, attacks may significantly impact additional products (scope change). Successful attacks of this vulnerability can result in unauthorized access to critical data or complete access to all Oracle Product Hub accessible data as well as unauthorized update, insert or delete access to some of Oracle Product Hub accessible data and unauthorized ability to cause a partial denial of service (partial DOS) of Oracle Product Hub. CVSS 3.1 Base Score 7.7 (Confidentiality, Integrity and Availability impacts). CVSS Vector: (CVSS:3.1/AV:N/AC:H/PR:L/UI:N/S:C/C:H/I:L/A:L).

The identified vulnerability resides within the Item Catalog component of Oracle Product Hub, a critical module in the Oracle E-Business Suite ecosystem affecting versions 12.2.3 through 12.2.15. This security flaw is characterized by its complexity and the specific privileges required for exploitation, classifying it as a difficult-to-exploit vulnerability that nonetheless poses a significant risk to organizational data integrity and availability. The core technical issue stems from an improper access control mechanism or input validation failure within the HTTP interface of the Item Catalog service. Although the attack vector requires network connectivity via HTTP, the complexity involved in crafting valid exploit payloads means that automated scanning tools are less likely to detect this flaw compared to simpler injection vulnerabilities. However, for a determined attacker with low-level privileges who has established network access to the application server, the barrier to entry is sufficiently low to allow successful compromise of the underlying system components.

The operational impact of this vulnerability extends beyond the immediate scope of Oracle Product Hub due to the interconnected nature of enterprise resource planning systems. While the flaw is technically located in the Item Catalog module, a successful exploitation can lead to a scope change where additional products within the E-Business Suite are impacted. This lateral movement capability arises because shared database schemas or integrated business processes allow an attacker who gains unauthorized access through Product Hub to traverse into adjacent modules. The primary consequence of this breach is the compromise of confidentiality, integrity, and availability as reflected in the CVSS 3.1 base score of 7.7. Attackers can achieve high-level unauthorized access to critical data, effectively bypassing existing authentication controls to view sensitive information that should remain restricted to higher-privileged users or specific business units.

In terms of integrity impacts, the vulnerability permits attackers to perform unauthorized updates, inserts, and deletes on accessible data within Oracle Product Hub. This capability allows for the manipulation of inventory records, pricing structures, or supplier details, which can have severe downstream effects on supply chain operations, financial reporting, and customer fulfillment processes. The ability to alter critical business data without detection undermines the trustworthiness of the entire ERP system. Furthermore, the vulnerability includes a partial denial of service component, meaning that an attacker can exhaust server resources through malformed requests or excessive processing loads triggered by the exploit. This results in degraded performance for legitimate users and potential downtime for critical business functions dependent on real-time inventory data availability.

From a classification perspective, this vulnerability aligns with CWE-269 Improper Privilege Management, as it allows low-privileged actors to perform actions reserved for higher-level roles. It also relates to CWE-770 Allocation of Resources Without Limits or Throttling regarding the denial-of-service aspect, and potentially CWE-89 SQL Injection if the underlying mechanism involves improper query construction via HTTP parameters. In terms of MITRE ATT&CK mapping, this vulnerability facilitates Initial Access through valid accounts with low privileges (T1078) and can lead to Data Exfiltration (T1530) or Data Manipulation (T1499). The network-based nature of the attack places it within the External Network category of the ATT&CK matrix, specifically leveraging web services.

Mitigation strategies must prioritize immediate patching by applying the latest Oracle Critical Patch Update that addresses this specific CVE for all affected versions from 12.2.3 to 12.2.15. Organizations should verify their inventory against these version ranges and schedule maintenance windows to apply security patches promptly. In addition to patching, implementing strict network segmentation is crucial to limit HTTP access to the Product Hub interface only to authorized IP addresses or internal subnets that require it. Deploying a Web Application Firewall with rules tuned to detect complex injection patterns can provide an additional layer of defense against exploitation attempts. Regular audits of user privileges should be conducted to ensure that low-privileged accounts do not have unnecessary access to sensitive modules, thereby reducing the attack surface available to potential intruders who may have already gained initial foothold within the network perimeter.
