CVE-2026-103888 in WPC Smart Quick View Plugininfo

Summary

by MITRE • 10/03/2026

The WPC Smart Quick View for WooCommerce plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to Reflected Cross-Site Scripting via the 'woosq-redirect' parameter in all versions up to, and including, 4.4.0 due to insufficient input sanitization and output escaping. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts in pages that execute if they can successfully trick a user into performing an action such as clicking on a link. The WooCommerce "redirect to cart after add to cart" option must be enabled for the filter that reads the woosq-redirect parameter to execute; however, the ?quick-view= auto-open mechanism means no further user interaction beyond loading the crafted URL is required to trigger script execution.

Analysis

by VulDB Data Team • 10/03/2026

The WPC Smart Quick View plugin for WordPress contains a critical reflected cross-site scripting vulnerability affecting all versions up to and including 4.4.0. This security flaw stems from insufficient input sanitization and output escaping mechanisms within the application code, specifically targeting the woosq-redirect parameter. The presence of this vulnerability allows unauthenticated attackers to inject arbitrary web scripts into pages that are subsequently executed by a victim's browser. While traditional reflected XSS attacks often require complex social engineering tactics involving multiple user interactions, such as clicking on a link and then interacting with subsequent prompts or elements, the nature of this specific implementation significantly lowers the barrier for exploitation.

The operational impact is heightened by the plugin's configuration requirements and automatic behavior features. For the filter that processes the woosq-redirect parameter to execute, the WooCommerce setting redirect to cart after add to cart must be enabled on the target site. However, a critical factor in this vulnerability is the quick-view auto-open mechanism built into the plugin. This feature ensures that no further user interaction beyond simply loading or accessing the crafted URL is required to trigger script execution. Consequently, an attacker can distribute a malicious link via email, instant message, or other channels, and upon clicking it, the victim's browser will automatically load the quick view interface and execute the injected JavaScript payload without any additional steps from the user.

From a technical classification perspective, this vulnerability aligns with CWE-79 Improper Neutralization of Input During Web Page Generation commonly known as Cross-site Scripting. The lack of proper sanitization allows raw input to be reflected back into the output stream directly. Furthermore, in terms of offensive security frameworks such as MITRE ATT&CK, this behavior corresponds to techniques involving client-side code injection and potentially drive-by execution if combined with other exploits. The ability for unauthenticated actors to trigger these scripts poses a severe risk to data confidentiality and integrity, as attackers can steal session cookies, perform actions on behalf of the user, or redirect victims to phishing sites.

Mitigation strategies should prioritize immediate remediation by updating the WPC Smart Quick View plugin to version 4.4.1 or later where this issue has been addressed through improved input validation and output encoding practices. In environments where an update cannot be applied immediately, administrators can consider disabling the quick-view auto-open feature if it is not strictly necessary for their workflow, thereby requiring user interaction that might allow security filters or browser protections to intervene. Additionally implementing a Web Application Firewall with rules capable of detecting and blocking reflected XSS payloads in URL parameters can provide a layer of defense against exploitation attempts while permanent fixes are deployed.
