CVE-2026-14365 in TrueBooker Plugininfo

Summary

by MITRE • 08/07/2026

The TrueBooker – Appointment Booking and Scheduler System plugin for WordPress is vulnerable to authorization bypass in all versions up to, and including, 1.2.3. This is due to the plugin not properly verifying that a user is authorized to perform an action. This makes it possible for unauthenticated attackers to change the password of arbitrary user accounts, including administrators, which can be leveraged to gain access to those accounts.

Analysis

by VulDB Data Team • 08/07/2026

The TrueBooker plugin for WordPress represents a critical security vulnerability characterized by an authorization bypass flaw that affects all versions up to and including 1.2.3. This vulnerability stems from inadequate validation mechanisms within the plugin's authentication framework, specifically failing to properly verify user authorization before executing sensitive operations. The flaw exists at the core of the plugin's access control implementation, where proper user verification checks are either missing or improperly enforced, creating a pathway for unauthorized individuals to exploit the system.

The technical nature of this vulnerability places it firmly within the scope of CWE-285, which addresses improper authorization issues in software systems. This weakness allows attackers to manipulate the plugin's functionality without proper authentication credentials, specifically targeting user account management features. The authorization bypass occurs at the application layer where the plugin fails to validate session tokens or user privileges before processing password change requests, effectively removing any barriers between malicious actors and privileged account access.

Operationally, this vulnerability creates a severe threat landscape for WordPress installations using the affected plugin version. Unauthenticated attackers can leverage this flaw to modify passwords of any user account within the system, including high-privilege administrator accounts. The implications extend beyond simple credential theft, as successful exploitation enables full administrative control over affected websites, potentially leading to complete system compromise, data exfiltration, and unauthorized content modification. This vulnerability directly aligns with ATT&CK technique T1078 which covers valid accounts usage, where adversaries leverage compromised credentials to maintain persistent access.

The impact of this authorization bypass extends across multiple security domains, as it undermines the fundamental principle of least privilege enforcement within the WordPress ecosystem. Attackers can systematically target administrator accounts to establish backdoors, install malicious plugins, or modify core website functionality without detection. The vulnerability's persistence in all versions up to 1.2.3 indicates a systemic flaw in the plugin's development lifecycle, suggesting inadequate security testing and code review processes during the software development phase.

Mitigation strategies should prioritize immediate plugin updates to versions that address the authorization bypass vulnerability, as no patched releases are available for the affected version range. Organizations must implement comprehensive network monitoring to detect unauthorized password change activities and establish robust incident response procedures for credential compromise scenarios. Additional protective measures include implementing multi-factor authentication for administrative accounts, restricting access to WordPress admin interfaces through firewall rules, and conducting regular security audits of installed plugins to identify similar authorization weaknesses that may exist in other third-party software components within the WordPress environment.
