Vvveb is a powerful and easy to use CMS with page builder to build websites, blogs or ecommerce stores. Prior to 1.0.8.4, Vvveb backend post operations allow a low-privileged Author to access posts owned by another Author. The admin/controller/content/posts.php controller permits filter[admin_id] to replace the server-selected admin_id restriction and accepts a caller-controlled post_id for duplicate and delete actions, while admin/sql/sqlite/post.sql does not consistently enforce post.admin_id. An attacker can view post metadata, discover post identifiers, duplicate posts, or delete posts and related content, exposing private drafts and causing content pollution, data loss, or business disruption. This issue is fixed in version 1.0.8.4.

Vvveb CMS versions prior to 1.0.8.4 contain a critical authorization flaw within its backend post management system that allows low-privileged users to bypass intended access controls and manipulate content owned by other authors. The vulnerability stems from improper implementation of server-side security checks in the admin controller, specifically within the posts.php module responsible for handling post operations such as duplication and deletion. While the application is designed to restrict user actions based on their assigned administrative identity or ownership status, the underlying logic fails to consistently validate that the requesting user actually owns the targeted resource before executing destructive or sensitive commands.
The technical root cause involves two primary mechanisms of failure within the backend architecture. First, the controller accepts a caller-controlled post_id parameter for duplicate and delete actions without sufficiently verifying that this identifier corresponds to content owned by the authenticated user's account. Second, the system allows an attacker to manipulate the filter[admin_id] parameter in POST requests. This manipulation enables the attacker to override the server-selected admin_id restriction, effectively tricking the application into treating a low-privileged Author as if they possessed higher privileges or ownership of another author's content. The database schema defined in admin/sql/sqlite/post.sql does not consistently enforce the post.admin_id constraint during these operations, leaving a gap where identity verification is bypassed entirely.
