In openssl_encrypt versioni precedenti alla 1.4.0, il supporto per CORS è configurato con `allow_origins` impostato su wildcard e `allow_credentials` abilitato a true. Gli attaccanti possono creare siti web malevoli che effettuano richieste cross-origin autenticate verso l'API per conto di qualsiasi utente che li visita.
