A vulnerability was found in Moodle up to 2.7.13/2.8.11/2.9.5/3.0.3 (Learning Management Software). It has been declared as critical. The "restore teacher" feature in Moodle 3.0 through 3.0.3, 2.9 through 2.9.5, 2.8 through 2.8.11, 2.7 through 2.7.13, and earlier allows remote authenticated users to overwrite the course idnumber.
The bug was discovered 05/18/2016. The weakness was presented 04/20/2017 (oss-sec). The advisory is shared for download at openwall.com. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-3733 since 03/30/2016. The attack can be initiated remotely. A single authentication is necessary for exploitation. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1068.
