A vulnerability was found in MediaWiki up to 1.23.14/1.26.3/1.27.0 (Content Management System). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects the function Parser::replaceInternalLinks2. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a cross site scripting vulnerability. Cross-site scripting (XSS) vulnerability in the Parser::replaceInternalLinks2 method in MediaWiki before 1.23.15, 1.26.x before 1.26.4, and 1.27.x before 1.27.1 allows remote attackers to inject arbitrary web script or HTML via vectors involving replacement of percent encoding in unclosed internal links.
The bug was discovered 04/20/2017. The weakness was released 04/20/2017 (Website). The advisory is available at lists.wikimedia.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2016-6334 since 07/26/2016.
