Details
A vulnerability was found in CubeCart up to 6.1.3 (E-Commerce Management Software) and classified as critical. Affected by this issue is some unknown processing. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. Using CWE to declare the problem leads to CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. Impacted is confidentiality, and integrity. CVE summarizes:
Directory traversal vulnerability in CubeCart versions prior to 6.1.4 allows remote authenticated attackers to read arbitrary files via unspecified vectors.
The bug was discovered 02/20/2017. The weakness was disclosed 04/28/2017 with Cybozu, Inc. (Website). The advisory is shared for download at jvn.jp. This vulnerability is handled as CVE-2017-2090 since 12/01/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be launched remotely. Required for exploitation is a simple authentication. There are neither technical details nor an exploit publicly available. The MITRE ATT&CK project declares the attack technique as T1006.
