Details
A vulnerability was found in WBCE CMS up to 1.1.10 (Content Management System). It has been declared as critical. Affected by this vulnerability is an unknown function. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a path traversal vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-22. The product uses external input to construct a pathname that is intended to identify a file or directory that is located underneath a restricted parent directory, but the product does not properly neutralize special elements within the pathname that can cause the pathname to resolve to a location that is outside of the restricted directory. As an impact it is known to affect confidentiality, and integrity. The summary by CVE is:
Directory traversal vulnerability in WBCE CMS 1.1.10 and earlier allows remote attackers to read arbitrary files via unspecified vectors.
The bug was discovered 02/28/2017. The weakness was released 04/28/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at jvn.jp. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-2119 since 12/01/2016. The exploitation appears to be easy. The attack can be launched remotely. The exploitation doesn't need any form of authentication. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available.
