The binfmt functionality in the Linux kernel, when "memory overcommit" is enabled, allows local users to cause a denial of service (kernel oops) via a malformed a.out binary.
The bug was discovered 11/25/2004. The weakness was disclosed 11/24/2004 by Marcus Meissner with SuSE (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at suse.de.
