Details
A vulnerability, which was classified as critical, was found in NVIDIA GPU Display Driver on Windows (Hardware Driver Software) (version now known). Affected is the function DxgkDdiEscape in the library nvlddmkm.sys of the component Kernel Mode Layer. The manipulation with an unknown input leads to a null pointer dereference vulnerability. CWE is classifying the issue as CWE-476. A NULL pointer dereference occurs when the application dereferences a pointer that it expects to be valid, but is NULL, typically causing a crash or exit. This is going to have an impact on confidentiality, integrity, and availability. CVE summarizes:
All versions of the NVIDIA Windows GPU Display Driver contain a vulnerability in the kernel mode layer (nvlddmkm.sys) handler for DxgkDdiEscape where a pointer passed from a user to the driver is not correctly validated before it is dereferenced for a write operation, may lead to denial of service or potential escalation of privileges.
