The advisory is shared at support.apple.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-6981 since 03/17/2017. An attack has to be approached locally. An issue existed within the path validation logic for symlinks. This issue was addressed through improved path sanitization.

Upgrading to version 10.12.5 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
