smb4k before 2.0.1 allows local users to gain root privileges by leveraging failure to verify arguments to the mount helper DBUS service.
The bug was discovered 05/10/2017. The weakness was disclosed 05/17/2017 by ryan (oss-sec). It is possible to read the advisory at openwall.com. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-8849 since 05/08/2017. Attacking locally is a requirement. A simple authentication is necessary for exploitation.
