A vulnerability was found in Microsoft Windows up to XP SP3/Server 2003 SP2 (Operating System). It has been declared as critical. A buffer overflow in Smart Card authentication code in gpkcsp.dll in Microsoft Windows XP through SP3 and Server 2003 through SP2 allows a remote attacker to execute arbitrary code on the target computer, provided that the computer is joined in a Windows domain and has Remote Desktop Protocol connectivity (or Terminal Services) enabled.
The bug was discovered 04/14/2017. The weakness was released 05/18/2017 by Shadow with Shadow Brokers (Website). It is possible to read the advisory at securityfocus.com. This vulnerability is known as CVE-2017-9073 since 05/18/2017. The attack can be launched remotely. Technical details of the vulnerability are known, but there is no available exploit.
