A vulnerability, which was classified as very critical, was found in Cisco WebEx 27.11.26/27.21.10/27.25.10/27.32.1/28.0.0 (Unified Communication Software). Buffer overflow in Cisco WebEx Advanced Recording Format (ARF) player T27 LD before SP32 EP16, T27 L10N before SP32_ORION111, and T28 before T28.8 allows remote attackers to execute arbitrary code or cause a denial of service (heap memory corruption) via a crafted ARF file, aka Bug IDs CSCue74147 and CSCub28383.
The weakness was disclosed 09/04/2013 with Microsoft Vulnerability Research as cisco-sa-20130904-webex as confirmed advisory (Website). The advisory is available at tools.cisco.com. The public release has been coordinated in cooperation with the vendor. This vulnerability is traded as CVE-2013-1116 since 01/11/2013. The exploitability is told to be difficult. It is possible to launch the attack remotely. The exploitation doesn't require any form of authentication. The technical details are unknown and an exploit is not available. The structure of the vulnerability defines a possible price range of USD $0-$5k at the moment (estimation calculated on 05/10/2017).
Upgrading to version 27.32.16 or 28.8 eliminates this vulnerability. A possible mitigation has been published immediately after the disclosure of the vulnerability.
