A vulnerability was found in OpenLDAP up to 2.4.44 (Directory Service Software). It has been declared as problematic. This vulnerability affects some unknown processing of the file servers/slapd/back-mdb/search.c of the component slapd. The manipulation with the input value 0 leads to a double free vulnerability. The CWE definition for the vulnerability is CWE-415. The product calls free() twice on the same memory address, potentially leading to modification of unexpected memory locations. As an impact it is known to affect availability. CVE summarizes:
servers/slapd/back-mdb/search.c in OpenLDAP through 2.4.44 is prone to a double free vulnerability. A user with access to search the directory can crash slapd by issuing a search including the Paged Results control with a page size of 0.
The bug was discovered 05/31/2017. The weakness was disclosed 05/29/2017 by Andy (Website). The advisory is available at openldap.org. This vulnerability was named CVE-2017-9287 since 05/29/2017.
