A vulnerability was found in Samba up to 4.4.9/4.5.5 (File Transfer Software) and classified as problematic. This issue affects the function fd_open_atomic of the component smbd. smbd in Samba before 4.4.10 and 4.5.x before 4.5.6 has a denial of service vulnerablity (fd_open_atomic infinite loop with high CPU usage and memory consumption) due to wrongly handling dangling symlinks.
The bug was discovered 02/09/2017. The weakness was shared 06/06/2017 (Website). The advisory is shared at bugs.debian.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2017-9461 since 06/06/2017.
