An issue was discovered in Cloud Foundry Foundation Cloud Foundry release versions prior to v245 and cf-mysql-release versions prior to v31. A command injection vulnerability was discovered in a common script used by many Cloud Foundry components. A malicious user may exploit numerous vectors to execute arbitrary commands on servers running Cloud Foundry.
The bug was discovered 06/14/2017. The weakness was disclosed 06/13/2017 with IBM Bluemix Team (Website). The advisory is shared at cloudfoundry.org. The identification of this vulnerability is CVE-2016-6655 since 08/10/2016. The exploitation is known to be easy. The attack may be initiated remotely. No form of authentication is needed for a successful exploitation. Neither technical details nor an exploit are publicly available. MITRE ATT&CK project uses the attack technique T1202 for this issue.
Upgrading to version v245 eliminates this vulnerability.
