The bug was discovered 06/13/2017. The weakness was released 06/13/2017 by Mateusz Jurczyk with Google Project Zero as KB4022887 as confirmed security update guide (Website). An information disclosure vulnerability exists when the Windows kernel improperly initializes objects in memory. To exploit this vulnerability, an authenticated attacker could run a specially crafted application. An attacker who successfully exploited this vulnerability could obtain information to further compromise the user’s system. The update addresses the vulnerability by correcting how the Windows kernel initializes objects in memory.

We expect the 0-day to have been worth approximately $5k-$25k.
